Carbon Socket

I sat by the docket
all my friends sold
for what's in my pocket
You still believed in me

It was wrong
It was false
It was a statue standing by itself

What's in my pocket?
I'll tell you when you no longer care
when you sit by the fire and stare
out the frosted window
at the frosted field

It was wrong
It was false
It was a fire lit all by itself

sharp shards pierce my eyes
ice like glass
I can see into your soul
eyes like glass
beads of sweat

It was wrong
It was false
It was a freak show set to sit by itself

reflect on me
reflect on this day of misery
reflect on the wall
a story that we all know

It was wrong
It was false
It was the best of the worst

I've seen you in the doorway
You thought I was asleep
I was dreaming instead
I was deep inside my head

It was wrong
It was false
It was a spring day in the depth of winter

Frozen solid
we'll never be moved again.
