Pirate Evolution

It would be nice to be a pirate. To live off wealth transported by others.

As soon as towns sprung up as gathering points for trade pirates have been taking advantage of unsecured goods. Clubs gave way to swords. Paddles to sails. Crossbows to cannon. But the two mainstays of pirate weaponry are the melee weapon and the ranged weapon.

If I were an Australian pirate I would be called Jack or Jake or even Jimmy. My ranged weapon would be a boomerang. My melee weapons would be two outback hunting knives. On my head is a feathered fedora. I wear a leather vest. Around my neck a leather cord bound with mako shark teeth. Pants tattered to just below the knee and woven grass sandals complete the look.

Pirates only live in times of excess. Pirates can never become rich without the help of an organized government.
