Kill the Rich

There needs to be a cap on wealth. The endless accumulation of wealth that the already powerful engage in is destroying the planet. The super-wealthy have resources and influence that can be put to good use making this world a more livable place. They refuse to do that. Instead the powerful use their unstoppable wealth to buy governments and escape the law.

In a world with a cap on wealth, any money generated in excess of the cap could go to solving some of the basic problems of living in a hostile environment. I'm talking clean water, food for the hungry, reliable sources of energy, more efficient transportation networks, etc. Infrastructure. Basic infrastructure that is lacking in much of the world. We don't now have the money for these projects. Too much of the resources of our world is tied up in business jets and pleasure yachts, Rolex watches and Lamborghinis.

"They worked hard for their money. They deserve to spend it on themselves," I might say.

But I know plenty of people who work very hard and still they struggle to make ends meet. How is it possible that a hardworking rich person deserves more than a hardworking poor person? The rich person was lucky enough to stumble on the secret of wealth through a combination of hard work and pure genetic luck. Should a wealthy person be doubly rewarded for their work because they have an innate ability to game the system?

The system is a game. The game is much like monopoly in its ultimate goal. Eventually one winner will take it all. Already 1% of the people on Earth command 90% of its limited resources.

Is that 1% of people responsible enough to control the entire world without the input of those with less?

"We have freedom of speech," I might say.

But do you own a TV station? Do you know anyone who does? Good luck getting your message out there. I consider my blog important, but do you know who reads it? Nobody. Absolutely nobody. I'd be better off with a sign around my neck on some street corner that said, "The End is Near". Because I believe The end really is near. The end of mindless wealth accumulation. It's time we put that wealth to good use. A cap on personal resources is a common sense solution to runaway corruption of our public institutions.

"It's a tax on rich people," I might say.

But no. It's a tax on everybody. Everyone should be subject to the cap. Whether you're a king or a clown, you should not own more than you can responsibly deal with. Our responsibility is to our future, our children, the future health of our planet. The financially powerful think their responsibility is to their bank account. Their mindless resource accumulation stops those resources from benefitting anyone but themselves and the relatively small cadre of people they've enslaved with empty promises of greater wealth to take those resources from the world.

If you control X amount of dollars you have X amount of responsibly for the suffering of the world. You have X amount of responsibility to ensure that our children have a future that is at least as bright as the past. The general consensus is that civilization is in decline. When I see the wealthy waste the limited resources of the world I can't help but agree. As long as the idle rich continue to have their fun on the backs of the rest of us, I can't see any other future but total societal collapse.

I won't let that happen. I won't see the future of the many wasted on the pleasures of the few. I will stand against you. I will destroy you, so help me God. I will destroy anyone who stands in the way of our future. The world has endured your kind for long enough. Count the days, they are numbered. Appreciate what you have today for tomorrow I will take it from you. For the good of the world and the salvation of humankind I will destroy your lifestyle. You can keep your life. I only want you've stolen from the world.

You've been warned.
